Adriaan van der Weel

Adriaan van der Weel is extraordinary professor emeritus of Book Studies, University of Leiden. Apart from many articles, he is the author of Changing our textual minds: Towards a digital order of knowledge (2011), the editor, jointly with Joost Kircz, of the essay collection The Unbound book (2013), and editor of a number of book series. Van der Weel was vice-chair of the COST Action ‘E-READ’, about the future of reading in the digital age (2015-2019). His latest book, co-authored with Ruud Hisgen, is entitled The reading human: How the book defines our existence (2022; in Dutch).
